PRODUCTS

Are your products organic?

We do select organic ingredients for our products; however, we made a conscious decision to omit focus instead on the most important aspect of NUORI: freshness. This means that we create 100% natural products at peak efficacy. We are also strong believers in transparency, which is why we make the clear choice to omit certificates on our products, many of which are tied to political or marketing initiatives.

Are your products vegan?

Yes, the full NUORI product range is plant-based, with the exception of beeswax which is only used in a few of our products: Vital Facial Cream, Lip Treats, Enriched Hand & Body Lotion, Vital Body Balm and Vital Hand Cream.

The beeswax we use comes from a supplier who is part of the Responsible Care initiative. This means that the supplier is committed to continuously improve their processes in order to avoid harm to people, animals, and the environment.

All NUORI products are cruelty-free.

Does NUORI test on animals?

We meticulously test all of NUORI products and ingredients, but never on animals. We never have, we never will.

A nice fact- EU law prohibits any cosmetic products and ingredients to be tested on animals.

Do your products contain sodium lauryl sulfate or other chemicals?

NUORI products are 100% natural and free from parabens, synthetic fragrance, mineral oil, petrolatum, PEGs, phthalates and silicones. This also means we do not use any sulfate derivatives or chemicals which can potentially harm the skin.

Are your products suitable for use during pregnancy?

The most important ingredients to avoid while pregnant are retinoids (vitamin A), salicylic acid, parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrances. Numerous studies prove these ingredients to be unsafe, and we do not use any of these in our skincare range.

When it comes to essential oils, there are many different views that are directly tied to where in the world you live. For example, sage and clove oils are deemed both safe and unsafe, depending on the country you cite. We do not formulate with either, as we specifically create our skincare with ingredients that are proven 100% safe to use. Additionally, it is important to consider the concentration of a particular oil in a formula. Most pure essential oils can be very active when applied directly to all skin types, however in most skincare formulations, oils will have a much lower concentration (often down to a few percent – or even less) which makes them perfectly safe to use.

All ingredients, including essential oils, are clearly listed on all products, and it is best to check directly with your health care provider if you continue to be concerned.

What is special about your packaging?

At NUORI we work together with experts in packaging to ensure the highest quality of premium protective packaging that minimizes exposure to air, light, and bacteria before and after use.

We source our packaging from locations in close proximity to our production facilities and we ensure that all our packaging – bottles, tubes, boxes etc – do not have added weight or size that will cause excess usage of resources during transportation. We are conscientious of single-use plastics, and transitioning towards more environmentally friendly packaging such as FSC-certified cardboard, as well as both recycled plastics and bioplastics wherever possible.

Are your products gluten-free?

Most skin symptoms related to gluten result from consuming gluten, rather than topical application. We recommend that those who suffer from Celiac Disease should avoid swallowing any cosmetic products that contain gluten (for example, toothpaste and lip products). However, since the skin is the largest and most porous organ, whatever you apply will - to some degree - also be absorbed into the bloodstream, and it is of course best to fully avoid gluten if you suffer from Celiac Disease.

In the NUORI range, our Shield haircare line contains a wheat derivative, and therefore we would not recommend its use for those with Celiac Disease. In the remaining NUORI range, the only grain-based ingredient we use is oat kernel extract. Oat can in some instances contain traces of gluten, but the oat kernel extract we use is certified gluten-free.

What is the cosmetic industry’s standard shelf life?

According to regulations put forth by the European Union, all cosmetic products must have an expiration date, unless the shelf life is over 2.5 years, in which case a Period After Opening symbol is mandatory. The PAO symbol looks like a small jar with a number inside, which signifies the number of months a product is safe for use after unsealed. This means that when you see the open jar symbol on your product, it was designed to be free of mold and bacteria for at least 30 months.

The 30-month/2.5-year duration is the time it takes for a typical cosmetic product to be blended, bottled, freighted, warehoused, transported, and eventually sold. Please keep in mind, there is no regulation to ensure a product is sold within this timeline, it is just a guideline.

When it comes to long shelf lives, there is first of all a need for high concentrations of preservatives and stabilizers that do nothing helpful for the skin. At worst, these ingredients are potential harmful- which is why so many people seek clean beauty formulations. Key active ingredients also break down over time no matter the packaging. A formula containing water molecules will begin to break down (oxidize) as soon as it is blended. A product that sits on the shelf for 3, 4, or even 10 years - which is not unheard of in the beauty industry –is left with only trace amounts of active ingredients by the time it is purchased and opened.

In defiance of the industry standard, NUORI products are freshly blended and marked with an actual expiration date, rather than the open jar symbol. You can easily find this date on the outer box, bottle and tube, indicating our commitment to potent and pure skincare. We call this our ‘Fight For Fresh’- and we believe if making fresh skincare was easy, everyone would do it.

How should I store my NUORI products?

Our products are formulated to be kept at room temperature. As with all skincare, it is a good idea to keep them in a cool, dry place.

NUORI Tip- try putting the Vital Eye Cream or Supreme Moisture Mask into the fridge before use. The cooling effect and refreshing finish helps skin microcirculation and feels great after a hot day or long bath.

How often do you produce NUORI products?

NUORI products are freshly blended in small batches at our professional production facilities; after which they are packaged and promptly delivered to our retail partners across the world.

ABOUT NUORI

What does NUORI mean?

NUORI is a Finnish word that means ‘young and fresh’. Although NUORI is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, our founder and CEO, Jasmi Bonnén, is originally from Finland.

Why fresh?

Freshness defines our reason for being and sets the bar for all aspects of the NUORI concept. From formulas and production, to packaging and distribution, everything has been reimagined to optimize freshness of our products. At NUORI, we produce fresh batches often so our products reach customers quickly after formulation, ensuring the potency and purity of the product.

The NUORI packaging can easily remind you of the two main reasons we create fresh skincare: The yellow symbolizes the efficacy and the white signifies the purity of our 100% natural formulas.

Why Natural?

The reason we are so committed to only using natural ingredients is three-fold:Firstly, compounds that are organically found in nature (opposed to man-made compounds), tend to have a much greater affinity to our skin. This means that the skin cells more readily receive and utilize these compounds.Secondly, natural ingredients are bio-degradable, which means that they do not pollute our planet.Thirdly, natural ingredients are a much cleaner, naturally renewable alternative to petrochemical-derived ingredients. Many consumers aren’t even aware of the fact that commonly used skincare ingredients such as mineral oil, petrolatum, paraffin wax, PEGs, MEAs, DEAs and TEAs are all derived from petroleum, which is an unrenewable resource with high toxicity concerns.
